Alexander – “Truth” – 12.17.11
“Say you’re my lover, say you’re my homie,
Tilt my chin back slit my throat take a bath in my blood get to know me
All out of my secrets
All my enemies are turning into my teachers.
Because, lights blinding, no way dividing what’s yours or mine when everything’s shining
Your darkness is shining my darkness is shining
Have faith in ourselves
Alexander is the birth name of the dirty dreadlocked cult leader who most or all of you know as Edward Sharp of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
Alexander is an extension of Edward Sharp and gang, but without the gang. He’s riding solo in this project and to put it simply, I like the vibrations he be puttin’ out. His lyrics in “Truth” are slightly dark, deeply capturing, catchy and they flow wonderfully. Once you memorize the words and can sing along with him in this, I swear you get the feeling you get when you can sing along to a rap or hip hop song. And if you’re white, you know what I’m talking about.
Any who, If you didn’t recognize his voice, you must have made some sort of connection once you heard his signature whistle, which supplements his songs giving them a uniqueness that helps me classify his sound. I hereby define “Alex’s” style style as (pardon me for getting wordy) “westerny.”
