Alt-J (∆) – “Taro”

A video for Alt-J‘s “Taro” has submerged following the U.K band’s release of their debut album, An Awesome Wave which came out late last month. The video displays footage cut from the 1988 film “Powaqqatsi: Life in Transformation.” The film is “an exploration of technologically developing nations and the effect the transition to Western-style modernization has had on them,” (IMDb) and I just wonder if it’s related to the band in any way or if the music simply fit the scenery well.

It’s been a few days since their album came out, and after listening to it for the first time today all I can think is, HOW is this their debut album? How have they developed this originality and style without significant time and experience playing together? I would assume both are needed to evolve into something so magnificent. Alt-J is not wasting time.
