Penguin Cafe Orchestra
“Music For A Found Harmonium”

“Music For A Found Harmonium” is a song I’ve had ready as a draft in wordpress for a few weeks now. The song, named after Penguin Cafe Orchestra leader Simon Jeffes found a discarded harmonium in an alleyway in Japan, has been one of my go to favorite songs for close to eight years now and it still gets me every time I listen to it. I first heard “Music For A Found Harmonium” when a friend of mine had me watch the 2004 film It’s All Gone Pete Tong and I fell in love with it instantly.

“Music For A Found Harmonium” is off Penguin Cafe Orchestra’s fourth album Broadcasting from Home and was released in 1984. ¬†Although Penguin Cafe Orchestra’s leader Simon Jeffes died in 1997 his son Arthur and a new group of musicians know as Penguin Cafe have been touring and “Starting a new chapter to the story.”

I’ll end this by saying that “Music For A Found Harmonium” has been and will continue to be one of my favorite songs for a long time to come.
