“Apologies like the birds in the sky
And even they are falling like the tears in my eyes
Everyone’s asking, everyone’s asking”
I mentioned in a Song of the Day post I did a few days ago for Hospitality that I really liked their self titled album but there was another album from this year that I liked even more. Poliça’s Give You the Ghost is that album and is definitely my favorite of the year so far. I like every song on it so much that I wasn’t sure which one I should choose to feature in this post. It wasn’t until I actually got around to watching the music video for “Amongster” that I knew which song it was going to be. Seriously though, the video for “Amongster” combines my three favorite things in life; High detailed close-up videos of animals and nature, amazing shots of the night sky and of course - passionate dirt sex with beautiful women. Even though this is essentially what my Saturday nights are like, it’s still nice to see it through this kind of shot. You never really get that third person view when loving nature in nature while making love on nature. It’s nice.
Poliça (meaning “urgent action” in Polish) is a Minneapolis based band founded by Ryan Olson and Channy Leaneagh who had previously collaborated in the band Gayngs. Rounding out the band are Ben Ivascu, Drew Christopherson, Chris Bierdan and featured on two songs from Give You the Ghost, Mike Noyce (Bon Iver). Give You the Ghost is a great album all the way through and I wish I could provide samples for all their songs.
I’m still angry at myself for missing their show in Seattle last month so don’t make the same mistake I did and check their tour schedule now. Now I say!
Poliça – “Amongster”
Poliça – “Form”
