Ravenna Woods – “Tides” – 5.2.12

Ravenna Woods

Tides by Ravenna Woods

I’m sorry for my absence this last month, I know you all missed reading my words. We’ve had mail flooding DHM headquarters with letters begging for me to come back. Well I’m back now and the world has returned to it’s normal rotation, the birds have begun to chirp again, and music will hence forth be posted on a regular basis.

The Song of the Day today is one of many that I had a very hard time choosing between. I stumbled upon this Seattle band Ravenna Woods (Facebook/Bandcamp) when I went to buy a Deep Sea Diver concert ticket. “Who is this band Ravenna Woods that Deep Sea Diver is opening for? Could they possibly be worthy?” As corny as it sounds, that’s about the exact thought that popped into my head. Ravenna Woods is worthy.

They feature beautiful finger picking and harmony’s with  catchy melody’s that could lull you to sleep if they didn’t get stuck in your head. Their song “Tides” is off their latest album Valley of the Headless Men, a follow up to their 2010 full-length –Demons and Lakes. The songs I included below are a mix from both albums. Honestly I wanted to post all their songs, because in the last 24 hours since they’ve graced my ears, I haven’t found one I didn’t like.

They will be at Neumos Friday, May 18th with my all time favorite Deep Sea Diver. It’s going to be a rad show. I will be there! Get Tickets Here.
