This morning, along with another list of emerging artists, it was announced that Built to Spill frontman Doug Martsch will be curating a three evening showcase at Treefort Music Fest. The showcase will feature bands like Quasi and Camper Van Beethoven as well as a once in a lifetime weekend of Built to Spill sets. Friday night these grandfathers of indie rock will play through their first studio album, Ultimate Alternative Wavers (1993), Saturday they play a full set, and Sunday a set of covers. As much as this showcase will increase our inability to decide which acts to attend, Treefort looks to be picking out its clothes from the SXSW closet and we like it.
P.S. Seattle, we know you need your Boise fix before March. Built to Spill will be playing the Sasquatch! Launch Party at The Neptune on February 4th, 2013. If you want a FREE TICKET, you’d better go stand outside the Neptune box office at noon this Saturday. Once you’ve secured that ticket, you should probably drive to Bellingham because Built to Spill and Finn Riggins (both part of today’s artist announcement) will be at the Wild Buffalo. Hopefully you planned ahead because that one’s sold out.
