[News] Our Beloved Radio Station

What’s Your Favorite KEXP Show?

KEXP 90.3 FM is the beloved radio station of Seattle, WA. Although they generally play alternative rock, they have weekly specialty programs for other genres such as hip-hop (‘Street Sounds‘), Latin (‘El Sonido‘), and rockabilly (‘Shake the Shack’). They even have live in-studio performances from artists, big and small, bringing  in local artist that may be just heating up in the area, or well known touring bands. It’s pretty awesome.

For those of you ardent KEXP fans, what is your most favorite KEXP show? Is it their daytime weekday programs (‘Variety Mixes’), weekend morning public affairs speakers (‘Mind Over Matters‘), or is it Wednesday night blues (‘Roadhouse’) with Greg Vandy? My only complaint is twang/country (‘Swingin’ Doors’) on Thursday evenings, because it’s the most boring shit to listen to on my “Saturday Night” (I work weekends).

I owe a lot to Cheryl Waters, John Richards, and of course, Kevin Cole for sharing so many of my new favorites with me. Alt-J, Shovels and Rope, Grizzly Bear’s “Yet Again,” and Milo Greene to name a few. But the ‘Variety Mix’ with Cheryl Waters from 2-6pm is my favorite.
